Taj Mahal - The Symbol of Love & Beauty
If there is any monument associated with love, passion and glory, it is undoubtedly the "Taj Mahal". Taj Mahal is not only the pride of a nation with more than one billion people, but also it highlights the glory of Mogul art and architecture. Above all, it is regarded as the symbol of love.
Shah Jahan, the fifth Mogul emperor, built Taj Mahal in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Unlike other Mogul kings, Shah Jahan was known for his passion towards art and love. He was in deep love with his wife, who had significant influence on his life and policy making. However, there was a sad end to their love story, when Mumtaz Mahal died at the age of 39. The emperor went into deep mourning and never failed to recover from it.
Mumtaz's last wish to her husband was to build a unique tomb in her memory. The passionate emperor fulfilled her wish by building the Taj Mahal, a unique fairytale-like building of white marble. Shah Jahan used to remember his dearest wife by spending most of his time at Taj Mahal. He was later overthrown by his son was imprisoned. After his death, he was buried in the Taj. That was his last wish.
Today, Taj Mahal has become one of the most preferred global tourist destinations. Thousands of people across the globe throng to Taj Mahal everyday to get a glimpse of this symbol of love and beauty. Taj is news recently because of the event launched by Swiss non-profit organization New7Wonders. They require votes from people across the world to prepare the final list of the new seven wonders.
According to reports, more than 90 million people have already casted their votes. The New Seven Wonders list will be announced on 06 July based on the voting results. It is not sure whether Taj Mahal will be able to make it to the final list or not. However, it will always be remembered as a symbol of love and beauty.
